Orchestras for All breaks down barriers to the life-changing benefits of music for young people with complex lives through delivering inclusive ensemble music-making opportunities and working with music educators and strategic partners to transform the musical landscape in their local communities.
As part of a new five-year strategy, Orchestras for All wanted to develop a framework to allow the board and leadership team to monitor and evaluate performance against its key strategic goals. In particular, it wanted to move beyond capturing the outcomes and impact of individual programme strands to a more holistic view of its overall impact as an organisation. I facilitated a workshop with staff and trustees to build a common understanding of the organisation’s evaluation objectives and worked closely with the leadership team to identify appropriate evaluation methods and develop approaches for embedding their use across the organisation. I also reviewed and streamlined OFA’s data collection tools to ensure a consistent approach to capturing data across its programme strands.
I continue to support OFA as a critical friend on its evaluation approach to ensure that it remains fit for purpose as the organisation’s activities and priorities evolve in response to the changes in the external environment as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
